Many loving pet owners — whether they’re singles, retirees or families — see their beloved pet friends as valued members of the family, and include them in all kinds of celebrations. As a result, the family dog is pretty likely to receive gifts and treats such as gourmet dog biscuits or a comfortable bed for their birthdays or at Christmas.
Many owners aren’t beyond buying a lovely present for their dog that can be more accurately fingered for the owner, though, such as stylish carriers, fashionable dog clothes or crystal-studded dog collars to liven up the holiday.
But at times, no matter how hard you try, it can be difficult to come up with innovative pet ideas for the dog that has everything (especially since they won’t be begging you for this year’s newest Xbox or PlayStation title). That being said, we’ve come up with a list of the top three gifts you can purchase for your dog — or for the dog of a family member or special friend on birthdays, anniversaries, Thanksgiving or Christmas.
1. A Designer Dog Carrier – Both the dog and the dog owner will simply adore this gift! A luxurious dog carrier is the perfect gift for people who love to travel with their animals. Today’s upscale pet carriers are essentially designer handbags that have been specifically adapted for a small dog owner to transport their pet from point A to point B in the most stylish manner possible. A dog tote or carrier is large enough to allow your pet to sit and rest, and is adequately ventilated so the diminutive dog in question has plenty of room to breathe.
2. Pet Clothes – Just as people do, dogs enjoy the comfort that comes with wearing nicely-made clothes and jumper-style blankets. Dogs –- and especially small dogs, who feel extremes in temperature more keenly — love to dress up in a nice warm coat and head out into the cool air with their owner. The good news is, dog coats and other garments are often quite affordable, depending on your preferences and tastes.
3. Pet Treats – Every dog will love fun gifts like the new, indestructible Kong toys you fill with treats or frozen goodies, time-tested dog toys such as rubber balls or bones, and dog biscuits –- especially the newer, high quality kinds filled with peanut butter, oatmeal and real meat.
There are many other great gift ideas for your dogs, of course -– naturally, you’re not limited to dog sweaters, unusual dog treats, or even luxury dog tiaras and barrettes. Really, it’s up to you to decide which gift will be the most fun to bestow on your dog (or your friend’s dog), and then narrow down the choices to the ones that fit within your budget. Remember, you really don’t need to spend extravagant amounts of money — high-quality and high-fashion pet items can be found for a reasonable price almost everywhere on the net.
