Dryfur the first Disposable Crate Mat, designed to keep pet dry and comfortable while traveling.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) May 29, 2005 — K C Pet Products has a new invention they believe will make travel more comfortable for pets the patented DryFur Pet Carrier Insert, a super absorbent Disposable Crate Mat.
The DryFur is an absorbent disposable cushioned pad developed for the express purpose of keeping pets dry and comfortable while being transported in pet carrier cages, crates or kennels.
If your pet is running the other way when you try to place her in a pet carrier cage, then KC Pet Products thinks they have invented an answer to your troubles.
“Pet carriers are uncomfortable hard plastic boxes with no cushioning, no protection from heat or cold and, worst of all, provide limited choices when nature calls”, says Lisa Kelly, KC Pet Products partner and product co-creator.
The DryFur Pet Carrier Insert, similar to a tiny cloth cover air mattress, turns a plastic cage into instant luxury for your pet. The mattress is cozy, protects against extreme temperature and will absorb and lock all moisture away from your pet if an accident occurs.
“DryFur’s absorbency is due to Super Absorbent Polymers (SAP) technology - similar to the disposable baby diaper”, says Kelly. “The SAP’s absorb and trap wetness away from the pet in a gel-like state below the surface of the pad”. Once the pad is soiled it can be tossed away in the regular trash.
Kelly says her company discovered a need for such a product after numerous pets arrived at her luxury pet boarding facility wet, cold and miserable. She and her partners spent extensive hours of research attempting to find a solution.
“The existing products failed to lock the moisture away from the pet and needed to be washed or laundered”, says Kelly. “Not exactly convenient when traveling”.
A challenge of transporting pets via air cargo is extreme temperatures. Wet skin and fur can exasperate cold temperatures, which can cause concern for the pet’s safety.
The DryFur will offer pet owners peace of mind knowing that even if the pet has an accident in his/her carrier, the pet will not be forced to face an unbearably cold and wet plane ride.
Kelly and her partner, Burt Christiansen of PCI Engineering, will initially market the DryFur by targeting pet transport companies and pet owners who travel by air with their pets. Other potential customers include those needing to transport their pets in a car to and from veterinarians, kennels, groomers or doggie daycares and professional breeders who travel to show their animals.
