(PRWEB) October 18, 2004 — Last month saw Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp voted ‘kings of cool’ in a survey of ‘urbanites’. Now Red, the super-intelligent, super-cool canine could join the Hollywood stars as a cool icon as his name’s been officially put forward for recognition in the Drontal Coolest Canine Competition.
The competition for cool canines is an annual affair and has previously been won by a real-life ‘Lassie’ called Endal who counted the ability to operate a cash machine as one of his many amazing talents and who saved his owner’s life on two separate occasions as he claimed the most sought after title in dog land.
Ryan O’Meara, editor of K9 Magazine, a lifestyle magazine for dog lovers, is a member of the Coolest Canine judging panel and had this to say about Red:
“Here we have a dog who embodies everything that the Drontal Coolest Canine Competition is all about. He’s clever, he’s clearly got a mischievous streak and he’s used the famous Greyhound intellect to do what most dogs could only ever dream about. If leading a daring kennel escape and inviting a selection of your favourite friends to spend the night with free run of the Battersea Dogs Home food store is not every dog’s biggest fantasy, I don’t know what is. I’m sure if the dogs themselves could vote, Red would get their nomination.”
Sabrina Stroud of Drontal, sponsors of The Coolest Canine Competition, said of Red’s nomination:
“What a dog! It’s entrants like Red that help make the Drontal Coolest Canine Competition such fun – and what better way to highlight the importance of responsible pet ownership than by capturing the imagination of the UK’s pet owners in such a light-hearted way?
The party-hard pooch with a penchant for picking locks might not have it all his own way though. The Coolest Canine judging panel, which includes members of the pet industry as well as celebrity dog lovers such as Caprice, have already identified some outstanding candidates for the title including a dog who can detect cancer.
The Drontal Coolest Canine Competition is open to all dogs, all breeds, of all backgrounds, all ages and of all levels of ability. If you think your dog should receive recognition as the UK’s coolest, you can nominate online www.coolestcanine.com.
