Newest trends show designer chewtoys to designer music for dogs striking the right chord with retailers.

(PRWEB) October 20, 2005 — Lets see…Ipod for Billy, a colorful scarf for mom and maybe that new HDTV for pop. Did I forget anyone?

How about man’s best friend?

Don’t leave your dog out of another holiday, chides John Westley, a pet expert specializing in reducing pet anxiety and reviewing pet products nationally.

“The 40 billion dollar pet industry is in a constant state of creative flux. Gone are the days of simply throwing your dog a bone for Christmas. There are some really great gifts that have come to the marketplace and retailers have realized that American’s don’t mind shelling out hard earned cash to provide comfort and luxury for their four legged family.”

Among the newest and hottest offerings is Dog Gone Songs, a new CD by award winning composer Thomas Schoenberger. Industry giant Petco has already ordered the CD based on surprisingly good test results conducted by the venerable Guide Gogs for the Blind.

“The controlled tests revealed that the music had an actually calming effect on dogs.” The tests were done on hundreds of dogs, not just a few.

“This CD will be a hot stocking stuffer” states Westley. Imagine how many guilty pet owners leave the dog home all day. Now you can take some of the anxiety out of both pet and pet owner. We all know that dogs hate to be “home alone.”

“We were pleased by the results,” says Schoenberger’s manager Robert Miller. “There is a lot of momentum behind Dog Gone Songs right now. We are even in SkyMall ( The in flight airline magazine) and dog bakeries are ordering the CD in droves.”

Dog Bakeries?
Another new trend is dog bakeries. Sharon Wilson of San Francisco shops at Vineyard Dog in fashionable Napa Valley.” They carry Halloween costumes and “Patches” likes to dress up and bark at pumpkins.”

“We get our special treats at Vineyard Dog. If I had the money, I would hire a private chef for my dog,” says Wilson.

What’s next? Dog Spas?

Yes, says Peter Kraft, an independent pet trend watcher.

Researchers are developing “chill zones’ equipped with aromatherapy and mood lighting. People are willing to spend and spend well for their pet’s comfort.

Savor the dogs life. It’s taken 10,000 years and a lot of bad fleas to get here.
