Retail services are in high demand in the growing downtown San Diego neighborhood. A new retail Pet Supply and self-serve Dog Wash store opens near PetCo Park, where other retailers are weary to venture.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 5, 2005 — Ironically an independent pet store, City Dog, opened its doors in the shadows of the downtown baseball park (Pet Co Park).
Retail services are in high demand in the East Village area of downtown San Diego (AKA SOMA – South Of Market). Neither large nor independent retailers have ventured into this market. This neighborhood is comprised of condo and apartment dwellers that opted to live the urban life style for the convenience of not having to jump into a vehicle for everyday needs. City Dog is one of the first independent retailers to speculate a new business in this still transitioning neighborhood and offer this convenience to the area.
The store of high style design offers the East Village resident a location to obtain everyday products for their pets and /or utilize their tubs and drying station to wash their animals without having to clean up the mess in their downtown home. Many of the customers that have walked to the location with their pets have stated they have been waiting for the store to open. The store offers various premium lines of pet foods for cats and dogs that can not be found at the grocer. They also offer a variety of toys, natural treats, grooming products and small animal supplies. City Dog hopes that they can be the convenient friendly location for the downtown resident to purchase useful pet products or bathe their pets.
Not only did the owners risk venturing a start-up business into an unproven retail market they also spared no expense when it came to store design. Details such as the reeds infused in plexi-glass that divide the tubs, and the hose reels that drop from the ceiling with constant supply of warm water are only a few of the features that impress the customers of City Dog. The store is spacious, clean and is well suited to the style of the neighborhood.
Hopefully other retailers will follow in City Dog’s footsteps (paw prints if you may) and further develop this area into a true village as envisioned by city planners. City Dog is located at 545 Park Blvd.
