Marjorie urges owners to resist the “need to feed” from the table since many human treats can spell disaster for dogs. Take raisins for example. Ubiquitous in holiday food, the sweet little fruit morsel is poisonous to dogs. “And even though some foods may not be life-threatening, they’re just not good for your animal,” Craig explains, “and can cause real gastric distress.”

Recipe for Success
Unfortunately, many commercial dog treats that are offered for the holidays are made with unhealthy, unnatural, non-nutritious ingredients such as animal by-products, derivates, and filler. Even so-called “natural foods” may have pure ingredients, but the total recipe can lack canine nutritional balance.
