Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 1, 2005 — Dog play dates are regularly touted by canine behavioral experts as helping our canine friends be the best that they can be > happier, healthier and better behaved dogs. A new website, dogplaydate.com enables like-minded dog owners to find each other, to pre-screen participating dogs for compatibility, and to communicate with each other to arrange play dates. Play dates had such a positive effect on DPD founder Steve Paul’s Standard Poodle and her canine friends, that he decided to create DogPlayDate.com in August of 2004. The site launched on January 5th, 2005.
Dog play dates are usually acknowledged by dog owners as having a positive effect on their pets. However, many owners are discouraged from pursuing this because of the time-consuming and frustrating process of finding compatible play mates for their dogs. DPD reduces the time and frustration and expands the universe of highly-compatible canine friends to choose from. The DPD system features: a search engine that refines the search to neighborhoods and 40+ relevant characteristics; a double-blind messaging system that maintains confidentiality between members; and, a community rating system that enables members to rate canines, members and activities.
According to Paul, “Since we launched, less than 30 days ago, more than 900 canine owners have joined our community and it continues to grow daily, primarily by word-of-mouth. What this data indicates is that there’s a need for this and we should expect our community to hit at least 25,000 members this year. However, the most rewarding data comes from the community itself . . . the expression of joy after a great play date with another members’ dog.”
